The course aims to inform professionals of findings and recommendations from the recent Ofsted review of sexual abuse in schools and colleges (Published 10 June 2021). The course is aimed at all staff and governors.
The course provides knowledge and understanding of the principles of first aid for mental health. This includes recognising mental ill health in themselves and others, supporting mental wellbeing in the workplace, understanding how to promote a wellness culture in the workplace and the importance of resilience and self-care for first aiders for mental health.
The course develops an understanding and awareness of youth mental health and wellbeing. The course provides knowledge and understanding in relation to the principles of youth mental health, recognising mental ill health in themselves and others and how to support young people in relation to their mental health and wellbeing.
This course id for all staff who work with children and/or young people. The course covers how to safeguard and protect children and practitioners in the workplace, types of abuse, indicators of abuse, dealing with disclosures, working with external agencies and how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused.
The course covers the basic principles of British values; democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs. This course also provides knowledge and understanding in relation to the aims of Prevent. Learners will know how to identify the warning signs of radicalisation and how to keep themselves safe.
This course covers why young people may display negative behavior including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) along with strategies to promote positive behaviour and how to use strategies to de-escalate challenging situations.
This course provides an understanding of the 9 protected characteristics of the equality act, types of discrimination and how to promote equality and diversity with young people.
